Endpoint Security, EDR, MDR and XDR

Protect every business device with detection backed by people who respond.

Traditional antivirus is one layer, not a complete endpoint security program. Cyber One Solutions combines managed antivirus, endpoint detection and response (EDR), managed detection and response (MDR), and extended detection and response (XDR) to detect suspicious behavior, investigate real threats, and contain compromised devices around the clock.

Next-generation EDR

Behavior-based detection finds ransomware, fileless malware, persistence, and attacker activity signature-only antivirus misses.

24/7 MDR analysts

Security analysts validate alerts, investigate scope, and isolate affected endpoints instead of forwarding noise.

XDR context

Endpoint, identity, email, cloud, and network activity connect into one incident timeline.

Evidence for insurers

Coverage, monitoring, response, testing, and incident records support underwriting and compliance.

AV, EDR, MDR, and XDR solve different parts of the same problem.

Antivirus blocks known malicious files and common unwanted software. EDR watches what processes, users, scripts, and applications actually do on a workstation or server. It can detect suspicious behavior even when the file has never been cataloged as malware. EDR also preserves forensic telemetry and can isolate a device before an attacker moves across the network.

MDR is the human operating service around those tools. Analysts monitor alerts at nights, on weekends, and during holidays, investigate what happened, and take documented response action. XDR extends the investigation across identity, Microsoft 365, email, cloud, firewall, and network signals so a stolen account and an infected laptop are recognized as one attack.

Every endpoint must be covered, healthy, and monitored.

A security platform only protects devices where its agent is installed, current, communicating, and correctly configured. We inventory coverage, monitor agent health, tune policy, manage exclusions, investigate detections, and report exceptions. Servers, laptops, desktops, and supported remote devices follow the same operational standard.

For Microsoft-focused businesses, that may include Defender for Business or Defender for Endpoint integrated with Entra ID, Intune, Defender for Office 365, and Microsoft Defender XDR. Other environments may use a purpose-built EDR platform. The decision is based on risk, licensing, operating requirements, and response capability rather than a product logo.

Endpoint protection should reduce business risk, not just produce alerts.

A confirmed incident follows a response plan: validate the alert, isolate the device or account, preserve evidence, determine scope, remove persistence, restore safe operation, and document what changed. Business leadership receives a plain-language explanation rather than a stream of raw detections.

This operating evidence matters for cyber insurance, HIPAA, the FTC Safeguards Rule, PCI DSS, CMMC, SOC 2, and customer security reviews. The tool is only one control. Monitoring, response, patching, identity protection, backup, and written process are what make the control defensible.

A scorecard for separating a real managed security operation from a bundle of resold tools. It focuses on the people, authority, controls, evidence, and response process behind the provider’s security claims.

  • Verify that 24/7 security means staffed response, not an unattended alert mailbox.
  • Identify which controls are included and which become surprise add-ons.
  • Test whether the incident response and recovery story holds up before an emergency.
